If people only raised the number of children they were able to support & nuture AND everyone one was in a position to know that number AND if everyone was able to ensure they didn't have more than that number, we would end up with the appropriate world population, and far less suffering. What's more a lot of people are probably well off today because their parents and grand parents made good decisions about the number of offspring they could support.
