Title: RE: [BD] Re: Reasons for not voting

I don't think that is what Finn was getting at. If we only voted for our mates, then that would be crap.

What I think he was trying to get at is that the Ultimate community, while small enough to try to encompass everyone's views, is also big enough that there are lots of people that you have never heard of, let alone met or talked to. When most student players are at uni, they are a bit sheltered from the politics of the game, and it takes a while to get to know the issues, etc. This could be a reason why the voting figures are disappointingly pathetic.

I know that the manifestos try to get across a person's viewpoint and aims, but it still could be hard to spot whether a candidate is an excellent prospect, or just a raving megalomaniac. (for example)

Perhaps there are some more events needed like UKU public meetings, or at least evidence of board meetings, so that people get a chance to see who is helping them play their sport, and so that more people would be inclined to vote for/against people they have seen doing a good/bad job. Of course this relies on people making the effort to turn up to these things, but we all seem to get together for a whole weekend every now and then.....

Must stop rambling now.

Thats just wack!!! you shouldn't vote for the people you know but the people
that want to do what you feel should be done. Thats what manifesto's are for
to give the intentions of the person.
