To pick up on this tangent, and one good point (IMHO) Emily made during the
debate about the Final (or lack of) in Mixed Tour1.

I think there would be some benefits to reconsidering the way the Tour is
run. My suggestion is that we play a 16 team knock-out, which would entail
only 4 games a tournament.

Now, before you immediately dismiss this as the confused ramblings of an old
man finding it hard to keep up with younger, fitter players... consider
these points:

1. No other sport expects so much from the players over two days. Especially
when you can play almost every weekend of the summer.

2. Less games would allow smaller teams where everybody played a larger
part, and got more experience. (This would possibly mean three divisions
instead of two).

3. The games could be longer - four 90-120 minute games over a weekend
should be plenty for most people. This would be similar to international
events where you play one or two games a day for five days.

4. The final games of the weekend would be better quality. (Quality Vs.
Quantity)

5. There should be less injuries if people are less exhausted.

6. Monday would be less painful.

7. As the sport grows in popularity, it would enable Tour 1 to be a regional
(Noth/South) event to be run on the same weekend at the beginning of the
season (when there are loads of Students playing) leading to National events
mid/end season.

Now, I'm not suggesting this for all tournaments, but it would seem ideal
for the Tour.
