Consideration should also be given by the decision makers that a tournament is not
just about the pitches.

Small venues are likely to be poorly equipped in terms of facilities - bar, changing
rooms, parking, camping, canteen, cover out of the rain etc etc. So by splitting the
Tour "wherever possible" you may well get more bids in with smaller venues (like
school fields etc) but the overall quality of the tournaments could reduce as all the
venues are is a bunch of fields in the middle of nowhere.

Most people on the tour don't just enter tournaments to play frisbee, a large part of
the experience is the social side and by choosing smaller, less equipped venues you
run the risk of spoiling the atmosphere that a large tournament can bring.

Maybe it would be better that you limit the size of the tournaments through a maximum
number of teams, so bidders don't have to strive to find bigger and bigger venues all
the time? Surely a tournament with 16 pitches is plenty big enough?

Over the years we have been to loads of different venues that are big enough for A and
B tours, but the reason we don't go back is that the previous TD doesn't want to put a
bid in. This doesn't mean that we can't go back to places like Exeter, Southampton
etc - why don't the UKUA look into hiring the venue and then finding a TD willing to
take on the job later?

Big tournaments at quality venues is the way to go.

Thoughts...

Is there any consideration of accommodation at venues during the bidding
process?

I know that many of our players are not attending Mixed Nationals because
of the lack of camping and the added extra cost of accommodation. I
wonder if this is one of the contributing factors to the overall low
attendance at this event?
