I don't think back to back games was solely an issue for Tour but also Mixed as
well. At tour 1 I highlighted that Steal 1 played five games back to back on
the Saturday with only two games on the Sunday. This resulted in us dropping
dramatically from our seeding which we finally recovered by Tour 3 and
Nationals.

I know Tour 1 of the season can be unique due to the number of teams attending
and the inherent problems of creating a schedule to allow for mis-seeding due
to changes in personnel in the off season but maybe it could be time to give an
upper limit to the number of teams who can enter the first tours dependant on
the number of pitches available so that back to back games (or even 5 games on
the bounce) can be avoided? I know that doesn't support the growth allowing
anyone and everyone to attend but just something to think about

This is in no way a dig at the running of that particular tournament (cheers
mum and dad) nor the efforts of the lovely H (ably assisted by the Mountie i'm
sure) and Jamie (apologies if it wasn't J who did the mixed schedules) who
without their efforts none of us would of played any games this year!

There are, I think, a few problems with the Tour schedule for 2006.

Having spoken to other people, there appear to be three issues:

Problem # 1 - Playing back-to-back games

This is IMO the biggest problem. At Tour 3 we played 2 games
back-to-back on Sunday morning, lasting a total of 3 1/2 hrs. There
was literally 3 mins between games; enough to move to the next pitch.
Having back to back games was something that was complained about
massively last year because it endangers players. Quality of play
also decreases (unless you're Fire 2 and have 50 subs... ).

Why this is necessary is beyond me, especially given the huge amounts
of daylight in the summer. If you factor in that many teams meet
about an hour before their games for throwing, warm up, drills etc,
then it's 4 1/2 hrs straight. What exactly is the reasoning behind
having to get pitchside at 7.30am on a Sunday and be finished by lunch
when there is so much time available in the day?
