How about making The Tour ironman, with hundreds of back-to-back games?
Then it would reward fitness as well as playing ability and separate the
wheat from the chaff.  The men from the boys.

We can take up the baton of endurance sport what Pheidippides allegedly
started [1 <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marathon>] and La Première Tour
(cycling) continued.

We are on the cusp of something truly great.
