It seems I owe an apology.

I thought we had communicated the fact that Mixed Nationals venue had moved
from York to Nottingham. And certainly the entry on the calendar indicated
that the intended venue was York but that it was not confirmed. Evidently
we didn't do a good job of confirming the change though.

This was agreed some months back - mid March at the latest. The reason was
that the planned venue fell through. However this happened in the winter
and - as I say - I think we thought the change was communicated and well
known. Looking back it might have been lost in the noise of the discussions
about how expensive everything is.

Interesting comment about UKUA membership growth. It has grown - but not as
quickly as doubling in 2 years. The UKUA has increased the investment in
staff (i.e. I do more hours than the last Administrator) - but until now I
have been prioritising other areas than the event calendar as in general
that has been working relatively well for the last couple of years.

I will be making sure going forwards that I put some regular time into
trawling the calendar to make sure details are correct and up to date - and
over-communicating on changes to venues in particular.

On the re-arranged Mixed Nationals:
The intention is to run an event in June. Either: 9/10 or 16/17.
There are two bids and there will be confirmation and announcement on the
venue and date will be made early next week (if not sooner).
If (like DJ) you have strong feelings about how this should happen can I
suggest that you try to email Jaimie Cross (the lucky fellow with the no-win
decision to make) before he decides. I.e. please do this now. If you don't
know Jaimie's address please email your view to me and I'll fwd to Jaimie.

Si
