Just for fun...

I don't have a problem with someone changing their mind about picking the disc up, or even faking to pick it up. The rules don't forbid this, provided that another member of their team is approaching the disc at walking pace or faster - "The intended thrower must move at walking pace or faster to directly retrieve the disc and establish a pivot," it says in the rules.

So if they all walk off, and then the guy at the disc changes his mind, I'd say that's against the rules and you ought to be able to make that first guy put it into play - he was the only one who was doing so 'without delay'. But that's maybe just because I like looking for anal ways to view the rules.

Dear BD,

Hopefully you guys can solve a rules dispute which i have seen occuring
numerous times recently....

....A player advances towards a grounded disc and bends to pick it up. From
this point is the player obliged to play the disc or can they continue walking
as long as they havnt touched the disc?

cheers
