It might make sense to backtrack to a bare minimal system and then add items
one by one in priority order until we run out of space. The bare minimum is
just enough to compile and run a full release. Filesystem priority I had in
mind is roughly something like:

0) minimal base system (no X11)
1) minimal non-pro editor (nano)
2) minimal dev tools (gcc, cmake, make, svn)
3) source checkout
4) pro editors (vim, emacs, not jedit or ide)
5) X11 + minimal window manager (maybe xfce or fluxbox)
6) preconfigured but empty cmake build dir
7) Bullet & Qt (maybe w/ KDE)
8) /usr/brlcad install

Most live cd distros provide 0, 1, 2, 4, 5, and 7 and come in under 650MB.
Adding 3 and 6 gives that bare minimum I mentioned and should be under 1.3GB.
Adding 8 should be around 2.3-2.8GB.

Pushing tight, we should be able to come in near 2GB. Even relaxed should be
under 3GB. Anywhere in between would be perfectly reasonable. Thoughts?

Cheers!
Sean
