I totally agree with your concept of a product's 'face' value and the
impression it creates on first-time users regarding the organization and
their product. I also second your opinion about the current website being
outdated.
I would want to know more about the web technologies you are familiar with
and what you choose to use for the project. The framework or technology you
choose to use should obviously depend on the use case, i.e. providing
definite structure to the whole website (which in my opinion will be a
primary task).
I would love to brainstorm with you about deciding the structure for the
site, using web-technologies to do the same, deciding frameworks etc.
