You are on the right track so far. After this is done, you can actually
understand OGV's framework.
You can take note of your progress and maybe use it to make your proposal
stronger. Taking note of what you read and learn is fine but might do you
less good at this point. Implementation and practical work in the direction
of creating a strong patch, on the other hand will do wonders.
