seems brlapi are installed because the brlapi.key are in /usr/local/etc
so where is the brlapi.so?
or must i specificily tell qemu to install braille support

It does and should build it by default. If it doesn't, please post your
config.log file generated by brltty. Please also post the config.log
generated by qemu.
