Hi, I am using a portable version of brltty and a HIMS note taker over bluetooth serial. Since this is only braille display I have, I too can't get the USB to work. Perhaps try connection over bluetooth? Lastly, brltty is not listed in the options in the latest nvda. I hope this helps.
