If your braille display is showing "screen not in text mode" then the issue isn't with the braille driver - rather, it'd be with the screen driver. You need to post a much more detailed log. Please use the -L (uppercase) option to specify the file to write the log to, and the -l (lowercase) option to specify debug and screen driver logs.
