Any updates?
I'm also seeing this weirdness switching from X to a text console on a fresh
install of Ubuntu 24.04.1,
and I've seen this on two (very different) machines.
The symptom I'm seeing is that Braille just doesn't update when switching to
the text console:
won't show typing, won't seem to process navigation commands, and keeps showing
whatever it last displayed in X.
It won't answer to the status key binding (which it usually doesn't for me
while in X).
But if I disconnect and reconnect the display, then it does show the text
console as I would expect.
Also if I systemctl restart brltty-udev, then Braille will come up showing the
text console.
If I switch to another text console, it tracks that fine, also if I switch back
into X,
but not out to text again.
Ah I got speech working, and interestingly, speech does respond when switching out of X into a text console, speaking the login prompt. So some part of BRLTTY does realize we've switched consoles, just somehow the Braille output (and Braille display key controls) stay stuck in X?
For some reason I am not seeing this on the machine I upgraded from 22.04
(fortunately for me).
Switching back and forth between X and text is something I do dozens of times a
day, so this is proving problematic.
