yes, localhost:11.0 is fine, although unusual, I do use 10:0
X tunneling works by remapping to a local display (can cause trouble with
multiple machines and the font cache, thus indeed, having different display
numbers might be a good idea)

Remote host: FreeBSD/x86
Local host: Gentoo Linux /x86, with WindowMaker.

GNUstep works fine on both systems when used locally.

I just tried opening Ink Vespucci and they open just fine.

I admit however that I more than once tried to connect through ssh to my box
at home and most apps do start, but no gnustep apps...
