All I'm telling you is what I have observed (and talked with Ralf and
others on the autoconf list about, too). If I run autoreconf, I get
older files copied in. If I run
$ACLOCAL -I gnulib/m4 && $AUTOHEADER && $AUTOMAKE && $AUTOCONF
(with the obvious variable definitions),
I don't.
grep doesn't use gnulib. Are there any other grep-specific problems that
could arise? (I can't see that the config.* files are ever modified either.)
Can you point me to the discussion on the autoconf list, please?
