Follow-up Comment #10, bug #68543 (group groff): While most "stylesheet" registers and strings we have both _man_ and _mdoc_ honor equivalently, this would be an exception.
_mdoc_ (1) has its own macros for setting displays, including code examples,
and (2) has its own user-configurable font selection system for most of its
"semantic" macros.
There no clear thing for `EF`, or whatever we call it, to attach to in _mdoc_.
