I believe at the time I told you my choice of 1 and 2 for the mutually exclusive ways of influencing line thickness was purely to save typing "computed from the current font size" (1) and "set by the drawing commmand \D't nnn'" (2). The important thing was to help you understand what was occurring since you appeared confused.
