No. The patch is just a workaround only for netbooting, so I don't like it. It is not generally useful. I would be happy to apply the patch, if you modify it so that it can work with disk-based systems as well. (If I'm wrong, let me know.) Also, I don't understand why a relative path must be supported, and I find no explanation about that.
