[PATCH v3 0/4 gnumach] - Split up patches pre-smp

Hi,

This modified subset of 4 patches from v2 should be easier to review and
merge before making specific SMP changes.  It will help pave the way to SMP on 
64b.

TESTED: on 64b UP, boots to console.
