I'm very sorry! I forgot to mention that we don't use HTML directly; we build the pages from the texinfo markup-language. The source files for the website are in Documentation/general/ More details about editing texinfo is in the Contributor's Guide. I'll go write some info about working on the website, but the fundamental issue of "edit the texinfo" is all you really need to know. Could you try only changing one or two things on the page, then send me a patch for that? I'd like to check that the technical side of things is working before you spend much time re-creating your work.
