Confirmed.  I finally noticed the problem when I compiled a 30ish page new work 
on current master.

Phil - could you send me the source files?  I have a 2h train ride Monday 
evening that I can use to crunch Gilbert and Sullivan through various 
incarnations of 2.15 to find where the hike in compiling time crept in.
