I thought I would check in on this topic. There seems to be no objections to the suggestion from 5/29 about the collection of various IRC channels. Or to put it another way: Is there any reason to not ask GNU package maintainers for their IRC channels?
I think it would be a good idea to ask them, or maybe just post to g-p-d about it.
