Specifically I'm talking about two-column format, ala latex's documentclass
option 'two-column', ConTeX's \startcolumns command. The output is like
that of the R4RS report in PDF, the output of many published scholarly
articles in latex, and the format of many bibles.

Multitable AFAIK requires you to split the text manually into different
columns; latex's two-column option splits continuous text into multiple
columns. If there is a way to get multitable to do that, that's great.

This is not really Texinfo per se; it's just fine-tuning the TeX output.

Thanks,
John
