That may be a reasonable alternative.

My preferred solution, as I've been saying for the last 10 years:
Modify the info program to read html files (perhaps by merging in code from lynx or links or elinks) and get rid of the obsolete info format!

(Somebody will mention emacs info mode.  Well, there used to w3-mode,
though that seems pretty dead.  However, running the info program
inside a term window works at least tolerably well as a stop-gap,
though not as well as info mode, of course.)
