I didn't said anything contrary to what you say. The 'Info format' is indeed what corresponds to 'the text in an Info file', not what a viewer would show. (And the Info format constraints only a relatively small part of the Info file content, mostly menus, nodes and cross references, the bulk of the format for most of the text is unspecified.) And I agree that, in theory, the direction of text displayed could be different (in fact I have no idea at all if top to bottom or bottom to top could be possible nor how it would be handled, but I guess that a solution could be found). -- Pat
