For these "misfeatures", doing this: (setq Info-hide-note-references nil) (setq Info-fontify-visited-nodes nil) followed by "M-x font-lock-mode RET" stops Emacs from doing everything you mentioned. What other "fontish" annoyances do you see in Info in the current Emacs?
