I would not cheat anyone, but I don't expect anyone to give a total stranger that has done nilch for OpenBSD to believe that I will be so gracious to give it to them. It has to be official so that there is no "iffyness" where the money is going. I would gladly do that if I get the okay from Theo (or anyone from the OpenBSD that has the given authority), but you still have the trouble of exorbitant fee's to wire money especially internationally and a good chunk of that will be lost to several banks. Its just a much quicker way to get developers the money they want, I really don't see what the issue is.
You know if you want more developers, it would be nice to be able to pay them. Many of them have kids I am sure they would not mind getting some extra beer money. To run a foundation is more than just code, its also fundraising money. Like recently Michael W. Lucas auctioned off for $1000ish his first signed copy of Absolute OpenBSD 2nd edition that's awesome. I can almost guarantee with a few minutes of efforts you can equal that or even much more with a bit wallet address, I am not a developer so I can't run decisions for the official OpenBSD website. Just let me know when that happens so that I can go off and tell everyone. Maybe through this way you don't have to rely on the DVD sales to keep the project going.
