Thank you very much for the suggestion - this is the difference
between the play-VM on my i7 workstation and the new VM on the Xeon
machine. I had completely missed this while looking for differences.
Now with `sysctl kern.timecounter.hardware=tsc` the VM on the Xeon has
no problem whatsoever keeping time. Awesome!
