I still don't know what went wrong exactly. However I could get machine
working and install a snapshot.
I followed the steps found here [1]. Did use the tool on Windows. Did pick
the version. Did use rk3588-usb-alpine-linux-6.1-arm64-20251222.zip image
which
is found in One/Google drive linked from wiki.
The .zip archive contains RKDevTool.exe. Make sure to change the
localization
from Chinese to English. Edit file config.ini found in .zip archive replace
Laanguage=Chinese.ini with Language=English.ini
Follow the step 4 (Erase eMMC) I suspect this can be sufficient to start
booting from microSD card. I have not verified that as I went to step 5 too.
Another biggest hurdle was when I was trying to boot from empty microSD
card (yes there were two on my desk and I accidentally swapped them) It
took
me a while to realize that.
Anyway the machine runs snap from Feb 4th.
