Hi Deepa,

I was in the same state as you 2 yrs back. Though I'm not an expert yet, I
have learnt a lot about butterflies over the past two years.I first started
to visit few websites & later bought few books on Indian butterflies. This
group has also helped me.
here are some websites:
http://www.people.fas.harvard.edu/~kunte/PhotographyIndianPeninButt.htm -
This site is very helpful for beginners.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_butterflies_of_India

The two good books that I own are
Butterflies of Peninsular
India<http://www.people.fas.harvard.edu/~kunte/ButterfliesBookHome.htm>
-
Krushnamegh Kunte <http://www.people.fas.harvard.edu/~kunte/Krushnamegh.htm>
The Book of Indian Butterflies by Isaac Kehimkar
Most of the people in this group upload the butterfly photos on
flickr.comwith tag butterflyindia. So you can even search for
butterflyindia tag on
flickr.com.
Hope you enjoy the world of butterflies!

Regards,
Rohini
