Ramjee, I try to help others whenever I can. Work schedule is very hectic
nowadays, so I cannot answer every query. Hopefully others will keep jumping in
on a regular basis to help beginners, or whenever something challenging comes
up.

Dear Krushnamegh,

Vanakkam! Greetings from Chennai.
I've been a passive observer learing from the exchange of mails...
I bow to you for the way you untiringly you share your passion. It is catching
up... In fact through me for sure you have ignited this passion in atleast a
dozen others... :)
In these last set of mails-exchange members in the group could get to learn on
how to narrow down on the IDs when the morphological features are identical to
other sps...
Thank you again.
Love and regards,
ramjee

Arnetta mercara (Coorg Forest Hopper) is endemic to the Western Ghats, so yours
is not that. It could be a Dusky Partwing (=Coon; in any case, Psolos fuligo),
but as I said, I can’t be sure from this picture.

Thank you.
Do you mean Arnetta mercara?
I checked on some Forest Hopper images on the net and they aren't as dark as
the one I got. Could mine not be a Coon?

soma

Many thanks for the ids..
May I take this opportunity to re-request the id of this butterfly that I
photographed in Jorhat? Couldn't get better shots.
Thanks again.

572 is a male Dark Archduke (Lexias dirtea). No page for this species on
Butterflies of India yet, but we will cover it in the next couple of weeks.
There is another species of Archduke on the website, though: Great Archduke
(Lexias cyanipardus):
