Soma and Kalesh, there is some confusion. The Forest Hopper from NE India that
Kalesh and I are referring to is Astictopterus jama. The Coorg Forest Hopper
(Arnetta mercara) used to be classified as a subspecies of Astictopterus jama,
but it is now treated as a distinct species endemic to the Western Ghats.

That's very interesting Dr Kalesh, to find a Coorg Forest Hopper in Assam.
Thank you for helping with its identifications. Thanks to you also Krushnamegh.

Arnetta mercara (Coorg Forest Hopper) is endemic to the Western Ghats, so
yours is not that. It could be a Dusky Partwing (=Coon; in any case, Psolos
fuligo), but as I said, I can’t be sure from this picture.

Thank you.
Do you mean Arnetta mercara?
I checked on some Forest Hopper images on the net and they aren't as dark as
the one I got. Could mine not be a Coon?

May I take this opportunity to re-request the id of this butterfly that I
photographed in Jorhat? Couldn't get better shots.
Thanks again.

There is another species of Archduke on the website, though: Great Archduke
