The Sheriff's dept. in Ft Bend is served by ARES, RACES and EMROG. If a FT Bend
SHERIFF does not qualify as "law enforcement" for the bonus points then I don't
know what does. Anyway it's more about spreading the good word of our emergency
prepardness rather than the contest points so the more served agency
representitives the better

Site Visitation by a representative of an agency: One (1) 100-point bonus may
be
claimed if your Field Day site is visited by a representative of an agency
served by ARES in your
local community (American Red Cross, Salvation Army, local Emergency
Management, law
enforcement, etc.) as the result of an invitation issued by your group......
Does the ect. include Fire department? ( I think so ) Lots of fire fighters at
the field day site held at the Richmond Fire Field training ground. And the
fire station is just up the road for a walk in invite too.

On a final note to those that took offence to my smile joke I formally retract
the funny. To those that wish to explain how to notify a representitive please
use your proceedure to invite all that you can think of to the KK5W Field Day.

I have in the past worked with TxDPS, HPD, BPD, Metro, HC Sherriff, HC Pct 1-5
amoung others for over 20 years in the towing industry and know NOT to use
dispatch for the invite.

Be Safe and Have Fun At Field Day

has to be a representative of a “served” agency. The Sherrifs dept is not a
served agency as there is no agreement between the Sherrif’s dept and us.
However, if you are going to make contact, I would definitely NOT recommend
calling the police dispatcher. That is for police business. But if you want
to see how to get into trouble fast, knock yourselves out.

The proper way is to call the Sherrif’s PR dept during normal business hours,
explain what is happening and request a visit for PR purposes.

A better way is to have the FT. Bend Emergency Management representative come
out, since they are already a served agency. BTW, a good person to go to is
Pete Sauermilch KD5QPX. I bet he would know who to call.

That is the right way to do business with these folks in a responsible manner
