Gayle:
Another indispensable item for your shack is a
100 W., 50 Ohm dummy load. MFJ sells one for
about $60 + tax and shipping (MFJ-262B, PL-259
connector) . This one is convection air cooled and
will take 100 W. for about 10 Sec. continuous and
is DC to 1 GHz 1:1 SWR. Get this one or one like it.

Gayle,
What’s your SWR? If you’ve got hi SWR the output fold-back circuitry
will reduce output. and you will only see full output in a key-down
(CW) mode. Voice has a low duty factor so you would only see a low
average power output in that circumstance.

Got a question on pwer supply for my Yaesu FT-920.
The FT-920 manual says: 3.5V DC….Rx(w/signal) @2.5A, Tx (100W)
@22.0A. My current power supply is a MFJ-4225MV 25A switching power.
Is this MFJ will power the Yaesu but I don’t really see the 100W on
output Tx, although the amp meter on the MFJ shows 6-12A while
transmitting running low to high on the RF PWR knob on the FT-920. Do
I need to increase the power supply?? Please advise.
Thanl you,
