You guys take it easy.. I set up this reflector and have run it for the
BVARC club

for many years.. The Board of Directors has the power to make rules here..
BUT so far

they have just left it to me.. I have been running reflectors since the
early 90s and ran

message board BBS's in the 80s (AcomBBs).. so I do have some experience.. :)

the way I see it.. The reflector is simply a bunch of hams (or those with
the interest).

BVARC members or not. A place we can talk , exchange info, brag, tell lies,
and basicly

anything that might be expected at a meeting or a ham radio breakfast (in a
civil manner).

Since that opens it up to most things.. We can also expect negative comments
about

things that are not radio related. The negative comments ARE a reminder
for us to at

least TRY to keep on topic just to be polite..

No foul!! (so far)

Are you the admin of this reflector, I think not.

Your opinion. Fine. I did not find your name or call sign on the club
roster. However, this is not required to be subscribed to the reflector.

I run a reflector, and routinely reject this type of non-amateur email. My
reflector specifically instructs members to refrain from posting this type
of message. Those instructions come from the reflector owner, not me. I am
only the admin.

I think he was just asking for a name of a lawyer to contact. I don't see
anything wrong with reaching out to the members of a club one belongs to for
a referral .

People hire lawyers every day for representation in accidents like this.
Since I am actually a lawyer, I tend to agree with the earlier comment that
it may be hard to find one in this case, given that the 20 year old
defendant would not seem to have much money. But your admonition that KF5LVZ
should just "look to his family for help" strikes me as unduly harsh. The
man just asked for a referral. Lighten up. This is what lawyers do, cases
just like this one.

This is NOT an amateur radio issue. As a member of BVARC, I request you
refrain from this kind of post. I expect posts here about amateur radion.

Look to your family and/or the government for help. Thanks you.

Subject: [BVARC] Civil lawyer help

We need the name of a good civil lawyer. Over the weekend my wife and
daughter was hit and driven into a freeway column going 55 MPH. I am blessed
that I am not widowed and lost all of my family today! Truck was totaled,
wife suffered 3 breaks in leg, 4 ribs, cracked sternum and facial damage,
daughter too. The accident was ticketed against the other driver, 20 years
old, who has no insurance and we do have witnesses. Our insurance is full
on our truck as it should be. My wife and I have been without jobs for over
a year. I have medical insurance and so does my daughter but my wife does
not. We need a civil lawyer to help us. With hundreds of lawyers here in
Houston not ALL of them are good lawyers. I am lifting this up to BVARC as a
"SO.S." and hoping for a name.

Thank you,

Gayle Dotts
