I had the old Heath Cantenna dummy load. I had it filled with real transformer
oil… it later became a problem to get rid of it legally and the thing was kind
of messy to have in the house. Kept it in a dishpan.

I will probably stick with my MFJ dry dummy load and the radio’s output meter.

On the command-set rig my brother built for me back about 1960. We were in
central Louisiana. Tuneup was into a lightbulb. Antenna: a piece of frayed
lamp cord tied to the light fixture on the ceiling. I sent out CQ and my new
novice call: a few days later a QSL card came in from Connecticut with a
signal report!! Ham Radio!!
