Rick hit the nail on the head; since your home address was already listed with the FCC, the genie is already out of the bottle - for now, anyway.  It may be possible to scrub all those crawlers, databases, etc. eventually, by obfuscating now; can't hurt to try if it's important to you.

The way I avoided (most of) this myself was to list one of my business addresses with the FCC ULS before I ever took my Element 2 exam; my home address was never listed to begin with.  Maybe too late to prevent frustration for you, KJ, but maybe of some help to others who prefer to fly somewhat under the radar in the future.

Traditionally (forever!!) hams have hade the address or contact information listed

Because we traded QSL CARDS which came in the mail…  It was a real thrill to get a mailbox full of cards

from other hams in strange far away places…   We got yearly CALLBOOKS the size of giant phone books

every year so we had everyone’s current information..  I remember when I first got licensed I rushed out

and bought the next callbook so I could see my info in print (before the internet)

 

In the past 10 years or so, we have had increasing more and more hams that are AFRAID to publish

Those that want to chicken out on phone number and / or address..    I really think this is a shame though.

 

With a ham license, there really isn’t a way to hide your info anyway.. you can be looked up on the fcc

Webpages, or qrz, or any number of other sources…   SO WHY HIDE??   For the most part only other hams

Know about this stuff.. your average crook has no clue.

I really want to be able to use my callsign in public forums, etc., but I’m not keen on anyone being able to therefore look up my home address.  I know it’s available fairly easily through fairly conventional methods, but I just don’t want to add another route.  I want to be able to have something like a Po Box registered with the FCC on my license, that forwards all mail sent to the PO Box to my actual mailing (physical) address.

 

Has anyone else solved this problem?  A cursory search of the internet shows RV forwarding services and stuff, but wouldn’t this also be an easy, paid subscription I should be able to sign up for with ARRL, like my arrl.net email address?
