Understandable. That is why I have unlimited data on my cell phone so that my wife and I can still stream when the internet goes down. Hopefully with fiber that will be far and few in between.

Fiber is nice.  Until someone digs a ditch and cuts it.  Been there, done that.  All of my warehouses now have 2 separate Internet connections coming in on disparate infrastructure, so when we lose one, we don't waste a day not shipping product.

Glad our new provider is Tachus as they are 100% fiber. As long as their generator at their office is working, we will have internet. Good thing about light is that you do not need to keep amplifying it downstream.

We went to VoIP with MagicJack a long time ago when they first started. We keep it unplugged unless we want to make an outbound call. No spam calls that way and all our friends have our cell numbers.

At work, we're having to convert all our old POTS lines to VoIP.
The telcos don't want to spend the money to keep the old copper
phone lines working.  You'll still be able to have a VoIP phone at
home, but it'll be useless if you lose Internet.

All the more reason to know how to get a message out via ham
