Scott, I just went through a similar decision process for my first HF rig. I went with the Yaesu FT-710. The big factors were price and receiver quality. Now that I've used it for a little over a month, I've been very happy with it. I heard great things about the 7300, but ultimately, it's an older design.
The biggest complaint that I read about the FT-710 was the menus, but I found them pretty straightforward. Everything you need to tweak receive filters and signal processing is available in buttons and knobs on the front. I've read and seen similar positive reviews of the DX10, but couldn't justify the higher price. The FT-710 has been a blast to use and I haven't regretted the decision. -Jason KC5KAW On Thu, Mar 6, 2025, 9:18 PM John Denison via BVARC <[email protected]> wrote: > It seems like everyone is favoring away from the 991, but if you do > decide on the 991 make sure it is the 991a and not the old 991.
