AH!! IM a life member as well...AND I am the one currently in charge of the reflector!! (no one else cares to be on the WEB committee)We had the beginning of some committees coming together.. Kori, Terry L, and several others were really coming together to grab volunteers and build out some committees.. I will tell you I like MIKE more then anyone!!! But Mike did scream at us and told us to forget all the work we were doing and HE would assign committees..Why did he get mad at us? A committee is something where the members may change but the committee with its procedures remains. If we had these committees, I would not get a call everytimeour treasurer locks himself out of the paypal account.. Or tofix something on the website.. There is a whole system (backend) to sell tickets and tables. But unfortunately, I am the only one that knows how it works.. Sad to see your2025 hamfest ticket (bought online) is a 2024 ticket not a 2025 ticket... Done that way for accounting purposes.. Messed up this year. I took some time off from my BVARC duties this last year because I was concentrating on closing my store (which closed Dec 31 2024.I told Mike, I told the board.. The new volunteers did not knowthere were already procedures in place ... If we had the committee it would have been simple... I mentioned accounting... Ask the board if they felt good this yearapproving hamfest money for this past hamfest when we have no procedures for keeping records other than a bank statement.. how much was the rent, deposit, security, golf carts, porta pottys,food guarantee, prize money, raffle tickets,raffle sales (they didn't even count the tickets in 2022), one guesswas 26$ ha ha ha... Every member has the right to know these figures.. But our ownboard has a hard time getting the info.. If we had the planned Financial committee to help our very busytreasurer this would be no problem at all... But we get hollered at.. I'm sure Mike will call me in 5 minutes and holler at me about this post. I know, he knows, the board knows, many folks know, we need the committees.. We can not talk about these issues on the air. We rarely have in person board meetings, it is very hard to get these issuesrecognized on a zoom meeting... And our club meetings, rarely talk about club business.. This reflector was intended to serve as a communications path for anything related to our club or ham radio in a manner as if we were all sitting around a table together... This includes ideas, debate and even criticism.. things are generally mild and a few posts a day about a dipole or a tuner.. But thingsonce in a while do get emotional.... Thats what the reflector is for, no whereelse will some of these things get aired... As far as the reflector being for members only... this has been talked about , but folks can get feisty about that as well.... Censorship is not the answer.. BTW, its not about the $3 patch.. I would like to make a motion, through whatever mechanism is open to me, that the email reflector only be open to current, dues-paying members. SECOND? I understand you want to keep an open forum. That is all well and good. Keep it for the actual membership. Non-members should not be allowed to stir up crap like this on a personal level and make the whole club look bad to the public!
