I don't understand how the whole paypal works. My experience with recurring is
automatic debit during the specified period (i.e. every month, every
quarter...). Could you please elaborate on the mothly using paypal? How do they
approve it every month?

That would make sense if we were requesting payment every month (i.e.
"pulling"). However, that is not how the PayPal method works. Instead
the donor is sending the payment every month (i.e. "pushing"). The
difference is like me sending you a bill or you sending me a check.
Although I can stop sending you a bill, I can't stop you from sending a
check.
