Hey all,

another busy day at the shop. Good-sized class, got a few donations in,
got the classroom machines' menu.lst files correctly configured. We
have 14 graduate machines ready to go (not bad, as this was Week 2), but
are now completely out of current cloned drives, and only have three
"zombie" machines left. Doc got some more Windows machines up and
running.

We ran into two weird hardware issues. First was a Dell (like all the
other classroom machines) that was taking over 20 minutes to boot and
still never getting the job done, regardless of which OS was booted. Of
all things, it turns out the BIOS battery was failing. When it was
swapped out, the problem was solved. Huh, who knew! With the second
(one of those small emachines), it could boot up fine, but the CD-ROM
wouldn't even open (swapping it made no difference), and the mouse would
stop working, then start, then maybe not work again. Turns out the
culprit in this instance was the power supply.

Next week we'll clone some more Debian drives, and then pretty much work
on working through the triage pile, sorting out donations, and making
more "good zombie" boxes.
