I believe we used either AVG or Avast. I know we set up the kids with a gmail account and go over using it -- not really sure on the adult side (especially now that Clarence is revising that program). > If we're using Office instead of OpenOffice, how's the licensing work > out on that? Seems it would be cheaper to go with OpenOffice, though > in my limited experience using it on Windows, it's a little slow. Clarence has obtained MAR licenses for MS Office from W.I.T.S., which is another new thing, in the past we just used OO. So we will have legal licenses for the adults, for their OS and for the Office suite. > The resale machines shouldn't be a problem, as long as we have an OEM > CD, which is easy enough to acquire if we don't. We don't and could use one or two -- could you acquire those for us? > When would the office be open for such tasks? Robert, Bill, et al, have been opening up the shop on Wednesday evenings. Other than that, it is always open (but *massively* busy and chaotic) on Saturdays, typically from 10-3. Dr. Walter used to come in a lot during the week, when it was quiet, to do his Windows builds without the distractions that naturally occur on Saturdays, when we have classes, mentorship program kids, local kids who like to use the computer lab when it's available, people walking in to buy computers or to get help with their machines, phones ringing, etc. Could you make it, to come by the shop this Saturday, and talk about it? Or, you could come by Wednesday evening -- I won't be there, then, but so long as you guys are kind enough to post to the list, to keep the rest of us in the loop, then .... Theresa
