I found out about this program from Google the other day that would pay
$5000 USD stipends ($500 USD to project, and $4500 to student coder) for
spending a summer working on an open source project. There is a lot of work
to do on Xerces 3.0, perhaps we could take advantage of this to get a lot of
the work done.

The relevant links are here:
http://code.google.com/summerofcode.html
http://wiki.apache.org/general/SummerOfCode2005
http://code.google.com/summfaq.html

Since I'm technically still a student, I am thinking of applying, but before
I could do it, I would need somebody from Xerces to discuss a possible
project with me and submit it to the ASF wiki page above. ASF says they will
take new projects until 7 June or so.

Could those affiliated with Xerces let me know your thoughts?

Regards,
Matt
