Gareth, didn't you guys create Pathan?

When I was with my old company, Decisionsoft, although we do still do work on it now. The license for the code is Decisionsoft's. If we wanted in Xerces we would have to approach them and discuss it (it would be no problem to discuss it).

So why can't
Xerces use the Pathan library which was build with Xerces for XPath

Its a while ago since I used the DOM interfaces for XPath that Pathan provides, but you certainly needed to compile Pathan with xerces source then. In addition to this, you have the standard problems that the sources get out of sync, that binaries are not compiled for certain platforms (if at all) and that testing is only done on a very small amount of platforms. By pulling a library into xerces we can then claim that we support xpath and that anyone who can use xerces can use xpath. With regard to schematron, I would hope for nice integration with the existing ways of validation we currently have.

Cheers,

Gareth
