Hello Caimaniacs,
first draft of System Configuration Interactive tool design spec
has been published for review:
http://hub.opensolaris.org/bin/download/Project+caiman/System+Configuration+Project/sci%2Dtool%2Dlatest.pdf
Beyond the good discussion that I've seen already, a couple of smaller
issues:
14.1.3 - I am doubtful that "None" would be implemented by disabling
both instances of network/physical, as it is a required dependency of
other services in the system. "None" is probably best implemented for
now with an enabled network/physical:default that is supplied with no
non-loopback interface configuration.
Thank you for pointing this out. I will change that.
15 - Consider whether system/install is the right package for
delivering system-config. Availability of the interactive tool may
not be desired in some product scenarios (e.g. appliances) where the
infrastructure components provided by this project would be used.
Maybe not necessary to break it out initially, but thought I should
mention it.
I see - do you think it might a good use of pkg(5) facets or would it be
more appropriate
to consider separate package ?
Thank you,
Jan
