Um... accountability? Did you hire the Cake team? Are they responsible
to you in any way?

This is their project that they've chosen to share with people. The
CakePHP developers are not accountable to anybody but themselves.

If you've made decisions that have put you in a bad scenario because of
CakePHP's current development status, that is NOT the responsibility of
the development team. If you somehow think that donating money gives you
some "right" to set deadlines for the development team, you have a sorry
misunderstanding of what it means to DONATE money.

My organization recently chose to use CakePHP in some applications --
but before doing this, I spent time experimenting with the framework to
determine exactly where it's development status was, but more
importantly whether or not it would satisfy our needs AS IT WAS. It is
YOUR responsibility to make good decisions for your circumstances. It is
NOT the development teams responsibility to meet time demans dictated by
you.

There is a saying... (from where, I don't know!):
"Poor planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine."
