Yes, this is a good idea.  I always add 
some lemon to potatoes too to prevent 
them from getting dark. I will try to 
make the apple cake and the apple sauce 
and will post the review (how it came out 
and if it was easy to do or whatever).

into 4 and put in pan on stove with just

Set the heat to lowest and cook until tender. 

Check from time to time to make sure that 
the water has not boiled off and that nothing 
is burning and when done, mash or press 
through a sieve. If you like some chunks, you 
can just mash to your desired consistency with 
a potato masher. If you like a cinnamon flavor, 
add a dash of that too. Very easy and fun to 
do with kids.
